The Princess is somewhat similar to Alice from The Vicar of Dibley when it comes to jokes. She just doesn’t get them.So when we were offered the chance to review My First Justin’s Jokes book (written by Justin Fletcher and published by Faber and Faber) I thought it would be a good opportunity to attempt to help her understand how jokes work. The jokes are very basic and aimed at young children, with colourful images to illustrate them. Here is what she thought…
“I like the colourful pictures, especially the ones of Justin as an astronaut and Santa. The pictures show what the jokes are about. Some of the jokes I don’t understand but some are very funny, like the knock knock ones.My favourite joke is:
What did one snowman say to the other?
Do you smell carrots?
This is funny because they have carrots as their noses, so of course they can smell them!”
The Princess did need a bit of help understanding some of the jokes, but generally she got on ok with them. She did, however, at one point read the wrong punchline yet still found the joke hilarious….
The main thing is she really enjoyed reading the jokes, she’s a big fan of Justin and the book does what it promises – “make you laugh out loud”!
I will be giving away 5 copies of My First Justin’s Jokes as part of the Pudsey’sAdventures competition – please check back shortly for your chance to win!
